Dorsey and Rob Campbell created The Wine Guy in 1999, moving to Asheville from Atlanta, where they had been in the wine business for over 15 years as retailer, wholesaler, and restaurant owners. In 2002, they opened a second location on the South side of town which is managed by longtime friend and fellow wine lover Steve Nelson. The two shops offer an ever changing, manageable number of wines from around the world, personally tasted and selected for quality and value. You will find terrific alternatives to the “factory wines” found in grocery stores, as well as limited production wines from the world’s top growing regions and wineries. Craft-brewed beers and a nice selection of wine accessories round out the operation.

Personal service is our specialty, and we take the time to learn your preferences so that you will get the most satisfaction from your wine purchase. We offer regularly scheduled wine tastings and classes to increase your knowledge and enjoyment, and work with the area’s top restaurants to present incredible wine dinners, as well.

At The Wine Guy, we are happy to answer any wine related questions you may have, and will gladly consult with you on plans for upcoming weddings, banquets, or simple gatherings with friends. Please stop in and let us share some of our discoveries

Saturday Tastings on the Southside!

Every Saturday at The Wine Guy South we invite one of our local distributors to come by and pour some new and delicious wines for you to sample. This is a FREE reception style tasting so no reservations are necessary. Stop in between 4-6 pm and take advantage of this opportunity to sample something new. Special pricing will always be in effect on everything we sample.

THE WINE GUY CELEBRATES SEVEN YEARS ON THE SOUTHSIDE!

The entire Wine Guy family would like to thank you for your continued support of our Hendersonville Rd. shop! We have finally completed our tasting room and will be conducting seated tastings and classes beginning this month. To show our appreciation we will be celebrating from 2 - 6 pm Saturday May 16th with some of our distributor friends who will be on hand showing off some great new wines and Wine Guy favorites.

And big news it is! We finally got our new tasting room finished at The Wine Guy South. By the time everyone gets this newsletter I’ll have already had a private tasting in the new room. Both stores now have tasting rooms that are available for private functions, tastings and classes. We have scheduled a couple of our semi - blind tastings at the south shop in May & June so check the events calendar for details.

We’ve got plenty going on in the coming weeks and right out of the box on Thursday May 7th at The Wine Guy North we’re having a Mother’s Day Sale & Tasting. Chair massage, essential oils, pottery, jewelry and other crafts will be offered for sale by local artisans.

We will be very busy the following week also as we have two wine dinners scheduled. First, on Wednesday May 13th we will be back with Marco Garcia and Chef Stuart at Curras Dom. We’ll have some new delicious Spanish wines to pair with Stuart’s menu.

The second dinner of the week will be Friday May 15th. Our new friends Matthew Macon & Tony Franco, owners of Food Experience a local full service catering company have invited us, and you to have dinner in their kitchen - “Chef’s Table” style. This is a new and exciting wine dinner concept for us and we hope to do it regularly.

We have lots going on in the coming weeks and we hope you get a chance to attend one or several of our events at some point. Check the calendar section for details on all of these events.

Since 1999 The Wine Guy staff has provided expert advice for weddings and events. We have been a valuable behind the scenes resource for choosing the perfect wines to serve while staying within your budget. We enjoy working closely with local event facilities, caterers and restaurants.

As an extension of these services, we have now added The Wine Guy Presents, an event planning company managed by Samantha Nelson, an experienced, full service, Event Planner. From “day of” wedding direction to entire event coordination for family, professional, or corporate gatherings, we are available to take the details out of your hands so you can enjoy your special occasion.

Call us today to plan your next event or to handle some of the final planning of one you have already begun. Relax and enjoy your event. 828.277.1120
